Experience the gentle Gulf Stream waters of Galway
Bay and it's safe and sandy beaches, villages of seafarers and
of course, Traditional Irish music sessions.
Spiddal is a popular
holiday resort on the northern shore of Galway Bay which
offers quality restaurants, traditional pubs, an idyllic beach
and Spiddal Craft Village, which has a collection of craft
workshops. Spiddal is the true start of the Irish-speaking
part of South Connemara and is well known for Colaiste
Chonnacht - which sees students come from all over to learn
the Irish language, culture and traditions.
Galway, just 12 miles
away, is a vibrant city with colourful shopfronts, theatre,
buskers, pubs filled with traditional music, clubs, a great
selection of restaurants, universities, museums and much, much
more. Galway is also a city steeped in history and there is a
sign-posted heritage walk around the city.
County Galway offers
the very best in game, coarse or sea angling with Loughs
Corrib (10 miles) and Mask, Galway Bay and many other rivers
and lakes close by.
The region is also a haven for
horse-riding enthusiasts, with treks organised along the
beach.
The West of Ireland is renowned as a golfing
haven. There are several championship links courses within
driving distance as well as parkland courses and pitch &
putt.
The Galway coastline
is laced with sandy beaches and, as you would expect, there
are a myriad of watersports to chose from including surfing,
sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving and
powerboating.
Take a cruise along the Connemara
Coastline, or on Killary, Ireland's only Fjord, or perhaps on
Lough Corrib, Ireland's second largest lake.
The Bed &
Breakfast is located in the center of a walkers paradise.
There is a 1 hour bog walk behind the B&B with spectacular
views across Galway Bay. A rock beach is 10 minutes away ,
whilst several blue flag sandy beaches are within walking
distance. Ard na Greine is also on the Bealach na Gaeltachta
(Slí Chonamara), a long-distance walking route.
Other
activities on offer include rock-climbing, abseiling, archery,
cycling and orienteering.
The Bed & Breakfasts central location on the West Coast
makes it the ideal base for touring. We are happy to organise
trips to the Aran Islands, Connemara and the Burren.
Vast mountain ranges such as Beanna Beola (The
Twelve Bens) and the Maamturks shimmer in ever-changing light
patterns and the landscape is dotted with lakes and peatlands.
