Kylemore Abbey This neo-Gothic Castle and Church

Thoor Ballylee This
16th century tower house was restored by the poet, William
Butler Yeats, who lived there in the 1920s and wrote the poems
published under title The Tower. The Yeats Museum was
opened in 1965 for the centenary of the poet's birth. The
museum contains an audio-visual theatre, gift and bookshops
and a tearoom.
Galway Irish Crystal The
Heritage Centre introduces you to the rich heritage of the
West. Guided tours of the crystal workshop, exhibitions
including the Tribes of Galway, the Galway Hooker and the
Claddagh Village and showrooms are all
available.
Dún Guaire Castle The 16th
century castle in Kinvara stands out prominently on the
seashore. was named after the 7th century King of Connaught,
Guaire whose palace had occupied the same site. The castle is
open to the public and hosts medieval banquets with
traditional Irish music and story telling.
The
Galway Races Regarded by all as Ireland's premier
racing festival, the meeting offers everyone the chance to
experience a great sporting unique occasion, coupled with the
recent opening of the Millennium Stand.
Coole Park Was the residence of
Lady Augusta Gregory, dramatist and folklorist (1852-1932).
Sadly, the house, frequented by such literary giants as Yeats,
G. B. Shaw, Edward Martyn J.M. Synge, and Sean O'Casey during
the 'Celtic Rrevival', has now been demolished. Today the
grounds, the Seven Woods of Coole, celebrated in verse by
Yeats are open to the public.
Galway City
Museum Houses various aspects of Galway's Past and was
formerly the residence of Clare Sheridan the sculptress.
